Dublin, doubly

Day 21 & 22

We left our hotel in the morning and headed to Schiphol for the last time. After a brunch at Leon, we lined up early for security due to overcrowding the previous week. Despite the long lines, they had only three lines open, and said it was very fast wait times compared to average. Uh, Schiphol... This was my first time boarding here despite arriving here three times in the past three weeks.

Thankfully our boarding process went well, and we were soon flying over the green pastures of Ireland.

We picked up the car, and after getting used to driving on the wrong other side of the road, we dropped off our bags at our guest house and headed out to Portmarnock Beach.

We then headed over to Howth and wandered until we found a spot for dinner at the Oar House. After a few weeks of European-sized meals, we were surprised with large portions, delicious food, and best of all, complementary water! I am not usually a huge seafood fan, but the fresh food enticed even the skeptic in me, and was won over with the crab cakes and fish pie.

The next morning, we headed out to the heart of Dublin, and had a healthy breakfast of coffee and doughnuts at the Rolling Donut.

We spent some time wandering Trinity College.

We decided to have a proper meal, and headed to O'Neills for brunch. The serving situation was new to us; you seat yourself at any table, head downstairs to order your food at the kitchen, and then they deliver it to you. As there was no signage or instructions available, we sat for awhile before asking our neighbours, and the same situation happened with every new customer who entered.

We stopped by Grafton Street for some essentials, and then headed to St. Patrick's Cathedral. This was by far one of the warmest days on our trip thus far; temperatures reached 20 C and I could take off my jacket for once. We even got ice cream to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Stops were made at Christ Church Cathedral, Guiness brewery, a bar, and then just relaxing in the sunlight.

Then we headed to Phoenix Park, where I was baffled to see deer just wandering around. Words cannot express how much I loved that.

We finished off the night with a dinner of curry and a grocery store run. Taytos & Hunky Dory's were acquired!
