BCYK: Magic in Kluane

Another morning, another delicious breakfast from our B&B host. After another morning of long chats and stories, we began the long drive towards Kluane National Park and Reserve.

The lovely view through our cracked windshield.

Fuelling up at the Village Bakery & Deli in Haines Junction before commencing our hike.

The entrance to our trail was absolutely magical - I get chills just looking at the beauty of it in this photo.

The trail went from dusty soil to rocky terrain to muddy soil, and as witnessed in the photos, some parts of the trail were slightly flooded. There was an area where it was similar to wading through a shallow creek... Thank goodness for waterproof hiking boots.

The photo above is not of a creek, but the trail.

The trail became less apparent after we found the creek leading to the mountains. We decided it was time to head back, and 5 1/2 hours later, we found ourselves back at the beginning of the trail.

Another meal in Haines Junction at the only place still open: Frosty's Restaurant.

The long hours of daylight made the drive back to Whitehorse a lot easier; the photos above show the progression from 9:30pm to 1am.
