The pursuit of utopia

I can't quite remember when I first heard of the word 'utopia', but one of my first thoughts were "oh, so that's why it is called "Fruitopia", and "that sounds amazing. Why does it not exist?".

Kicking off the summer

Summer has finally more or less arrived, and the delayed warm weather meant the sudden transition was jarring.

Words born out of feelings

Or do feelings come about to match the words we have for them?

"What super power would you want to have?"
Besides flying, which, as some scientifically-correct people spoiled by pointing out that it wouldn't really be feasible due to Fact A and Fact B, the second "super power" I always wished to have was the ability to understand every language. Back then, it was simply for the reason of knowing what others were talking about, but as of late, this "power" has filled my mind for more substantial reasons.

If you are unable to describe a feeling or emotion properly,
If you don't have the word that perfectly captures your emotions,
Does the emotion you have skew into another feeling in order to try and fit the vocabulary available to you?

Melting into spring

Spring has been slowly but steadily making her presence known; the muddy grass and the thinner coats have been warmly received as of late.

I think all seasons have their charm, but there is definitely something a little bit special about spring. The rebirth of dormant trees and flowers, the reemergence of animals (and bugs), and the general lightening of spirits. Though I like living in a clean environment, I despise cleaning, but lately I've been getting the itch to clean and reorganize my space. The weather is seriously doing some crazy things to me...

Blue castles

I like reading; growing up, it took up a good percentage of my day, and I seldom left the house without a book tucked under my arm.

Winding down the summer

Headphones. I have wanted proper headphones for awhile. When I saw this pair, I just got the overwhelming need of fulfilling that goal immediately. It has been bringing me great comfort.

Book. I had finished my first Murakami book about two months ago, and then powered through 3 more between my travels. I cannot recall the last time a book has brought me into its world with such totality. I've been currently repeating the mistake of beginning these books in the evening and finishing them as the first trains begin running.

Nostalgic music. The music of my preteen years were given to me through CDs - and the recent drive through California reignited the love for that music. The task proved harder than expected as the music was not readily available online, and so this undeniable urge made me dig through storage to find my CDs and Walkman.

A great pen. Writing seems to be coming easier to me lately, and I blame this extremely smooth pen for making me constantly crave writing just so I can use it.
