Queenstown, Hong Kong, and home

We made the drive into Queenstown again, and after finding parking for the day, we split up into our respective bungee and non-bungee jumping groups.

A quick walk around town in search of breakfast had us circling around until we decided to just stop by the one place with a group of people gathered outside. Fergbaker was a bakery with minimal indoor seating, and with benches outside the affiliated Fergburger. We loaded up on meat pies, which ended up being flakey, buttery deliciousness.

It was a rainy, gloomy day by the time we finished eating, and the rain began to pour in earnest. With little to do in town asides from shopping, we went up the Skyline.

After a gondola ride up and some nasty Jelly Bellies later, we were at the peak, with the view of foggy Queenstown below. There was a small bungee jump and luge racing package available, but the prices had us balking, so we decided to watch others jump instead.

We went back down into town to check the ridiculous price of that alpaca wool sweater (700 NZD), did some damage at Kathmandu, and stopped by Fergbaker once again. I had been debating on a Boston cream doughnut that morning, but the order had been missed, so I was determined to get it for lunch. I kid you not, this was the most delicious Boston cream doughnut I have ever had, tied for best doughnut ever with a certain hibiscus beauty.

Thus began our long journey home. We arrived at the Queenstown airport to a delay due to severe winds, activating my internal panic button. I always leave ample time when travelling, especially by plane, as I absolutely despise being late, rushing, and worst of all, missing a flight.

Thankfully, our flight was only slightly delayed, and we landed in Auckland, and half the group rushed out into the city to pick up our luggage from the hostel we had left it at.

After everyone gathered together, we repacked and checked our bags in. As we headed upstairs to the food court, I spotted a McDonald's and finally took my chance to try the Kiwi burger (their version, as I had one in Franz Josef).

Hong Kong! We were there for several hours early in the morning for our layover, and filled up on comfort food.

Flying above the skies of home. After a month of travelling, I was finally home.
