Freshly cut

2018 was the year of flowers. After the sunflower farm disaster, we noticed a lot more flower-related articles filling our feeds.

Dan in particular kept her eye on this flower farm in Newmarket, that let you pick your own flowers. They opened a spot on a Saturday in August, and she quickly signed us up.

We decided to head there early in the morning, and after a stop at Tim Hortons, we were on our way.

I haven't been able to observe monarchs up close in quite a long time, and I noticed they were a lot larger in size than the ones near home, and many had imperfect wings.

We walked around the flower fields a couple of times, trying to plan out our bouquets. I think we all had different things in mind, and before long, we made the first cut.

It feels a little sacrilegious to cut a flower, but the owner of the farm assured us that it would help make way for new flowers to bloom.

Our buckets started to slowly fill up.

Dan finished first, and I followed shortly after. Viv was the one who thought hers out the most, and so I decided to go up the nearby hill to explore the rest of the farm, and found Dan there already.

After letting some mosquitoes feast on us, we headed back to the flower fields.

Our final bouquets. It was a very relaxing morning spent picking flowers, and we followed it with two free meals (one by chance, one planned), and then spent the rest of the day with Archie and Something in the Rain.
