National parks and heading home

The last day of our west coast adventure had arrived; we woke up early and packed up for the road ahead.

Can you tell how gorgeous I think Emerald Lake is? Honestly the beauty of it was unreal. I had seen photos of it online and was stunned at its beauty and wanted to work it into our itinerary somehow. This was our only reason we stopped by Yoho before crossing into Banff.

We gallivanted around to Lake Louise, the town centre, Moraine Lake, and Johnston Canyon with periodic rainfall and temperatures from 8C dropping down to 4C. Needless to say, we were all severely under-dressed for this weather and I wore almost every shirt I had (6 layers in total) and was still shivering, especially as we were almost always damp. It is a wonder none of us caught a cold afterwards.

We finally headed back into town for a late dinner at where else, but Tim Horton's. Then followed a drive to Calgary, where we finally flew back at midnight.

That marks the end of our west coast road trip adventure; it was truly an experience of a lifetime, and the first time I journalled a trip. There were a lot of laughs, crazy driving, loud sneezing, sore butts, terrible singing, and beautiful scenery that will forever characterize this trip. Until the next one!
