Crawling through winter

I got sick, so the last week and a half has been full of fevers, excessive sleeping, and raspy voices. Thankfully, I am feeling much better and would like to thank certain things for bringing me joy and solace through all the coughing.

Spectacular Northwest Territories

A trip to Yellowknife had been on the table for quite awhile; it is a personal goal of ours to visit all corners of our country, and the Northwest Territories marked the 12th province/territory.

One of the main reasons people come to Yellowknife is undoubtedly to see the northern lights, or aurora borealis. I have personally never seen them before, but some have sent pictures from trips to Iceland and northern Ontario, and I knew this was something I wanted to see at least once in my life.

Things that make me happy, pt. 1

A window open on a warm night.

When someone buys me ice cream.

Being the only one awake early in the morning.

Meeting a friendly cat.

Unexpected postcards and letters.

Warm hands on a chilly day.

Slieve League

Day 25

I love waking up early.

Is that a weird thing to say? I truly love it. The tranquil morning while everyone else still sleeps; slipping out of bed and into the morning dew.

Blue castles

I like reading; growing up, it took up a good percentage of my day, and I seldom left the house without a book tucked under my arm.

Goodbye 2018

A year I had no expectations for, brought a lot of changes. Some were progressive, some were terribly difficult, some were regressive, and some were joyful. Overall, I have mixed feelings, and I am ready to bid goodbye.

The passage of time

Nothing lasts forever.

When I was a child, most things seemed to be endless. Although I knew nothing lasted forever, time moved so slowly that it was hard to not take some things for granted.

When do ups and downs end and situations become permanent? How much can you hold onto the past, and sometimes... would it not be best to let go?

Mount Royal

The last of our VIA Rail adventures was a trip to Montreal. Another early morning at Union Station with a breakfast from McDonald's; the third and final egg and sausage McMuffin.
