Eldred King Woodlands

I rarely take Tofu on walks outside of the neighbourhood; we just got used to our usual routine, and I felt it was a perfect time to go on an little adventure together.

Seaton Trail

There aren't many things that sound more pleasant than a Sunday morning hike. Our morning devolved into noon, but nevertheless, we were on the road to Seaton Hiking Trail.

Things that make me happy, pt. 2

Welcoming a new arrival to my plant family.

When a package arrives earlier than its expected date.

Being the only one awake at night.

When someone just accepts what I feed them without even checking to see what it is.

When a new release from a favourite artist is announced.

Snuggling into the sheets and feeling perfectly, contently warm.

Reading the first page of a new book and the instant knowledge that it will be enjoyable.

When Tofu picks me up in the car after a long day (with the aid of someone else...).

Before the mercury rises

It's almost officially summer, but the weather seems to be stuck in springtime. Rainy days, cooler weather, thicker sweaters, and then sudden bursts of sunshine and heat have categorized the last couple of weeks.

A decade

My little boy is ten years old. A decade of memories with Tofu.

A long weekend in Muskoka

Winter is usually a time for hibernation; asides from the somewhat-annual snowboarding trip or visit to the skating rink, we tend to keep our activities indoors after the Christmas season.

Hygge, and other fuzzy feelings

The halfway point of February marks Valentine's Day, and in delayed celebration of that, I thought I would share some thoughts, things, and places that give me the warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

What could give me the warm fuzzies more than Tofu?

Temiskaming Shores

The day after I got off the plane, we headed up to Temiskaming Shores. A city of less than 10k people, it is probably one of the smallest places we had visited for a trip that was not related to camping, skiing, or where outdoor activity was the main reason for visiting.

The Bruce Peninsula

Foreword: I am finally catching up to writing some very delayed posts. Please enjoy our trip to the land snuggled between the Georgian Bay and Lake Huron.

To spring days

Spring is such a beautiful time of the year. It's hard not to feel happy from all the sunshine, budding plants, and chirping of birds, among other things. Slightly less enjoyable but equally important is the inevitable mud, reemergence of bugs, and rapidly changing weather.

Some things I have been really enjoying lately are in-taking copious amount of warm water, in-season mangoes, lazy lounging on the green grass with Tofu, comeback season, a trusty new hat, grandpa-style, wearing sandals again, the ease of drying hair with a diffuser, and the feeling of warm sun on my skin.

3/26

My baby turned 8 today. I guess he's not longer really a baby but he's got his youthful good looks to hide that fact.

Dabbling in new territory

I've been blogging on and off on various websites since I've became more tech-savvy (around Grade 7, which is many years ago). I used Xanga, then Wordpress, and now dipping my toes in the Blogspot/Blogger zone.

A little about myself; I'm currently completing my undergrad, I have resided in Canada my whole life, and I have a dog named Tofu. Which reminds me, I should probably explain my blog name.

Tofu = my dog. Here is a photo.

Yeah, likely not what you expected? I get that a lot. Maybe I'll explain the story behind it one day, but for now, Tofu being his name is all you need to know.

Tofu Walls = blank walls. Apparently it was a term one of my friend's architecture professor used.
As something you would want to avoid.

For me... I have always had a love/hate relationship with blank canvases. So much potential, but also so much pressure. Ideas and thoughts never turn out as you expect, leading to disappointment. I had always loved art as a child but only took art class one summer when I was around seven. So in high school, I took at least 1-3 art classes each year. Visual arts, photography, graphic design, I loved them all, but it didn't mean I was good at it. Blank walls intimidate me for the very reason they excite me; so much potential but for failure as well as for success.

So this blog will be my blank canvas, and I will slowly fill it with bits and pieces of my life and what interests me. Don't be a stranger!
